Scented Spray vs Odor-Neutralizing Spray
Choose a scented room spray when you want a fragrance you enjoy. Choose an odor-neutralizing spray when an unwanted smell lingers after cleaning. If you want both, address the unwanted smell first, allow treated fabrics or surfaces to dry, then add your chosen fragrance.
That simple distinction can save you from buying the wrong bottle. Here is how to choose between the two for your room, linens, gym bag or car.

Choose a scented room spray for fragrance you enjoy

Make the room feel like yours
A scented room and linen spray lets you choose the fragrance people notice when they walk in. You can also use a light mist on suitable curtains or freshly washed linens.
Our scented sprays are 3.4 oz (100 ml) fine mists. Start with one or two sprays into the air and add more only if needed.

Sometimes an unwanted smell remains after you have taken out the trash, washed the fabric or aired out the room. Our odor-neutralizing room and linen spray is designed to help with that remaining odor.
It has no added fragrance. The formula includes zinc ricinoleate, a zinc salt derived from castor oil. This ingredient is used in odor-control formulas to bind certain odor-causing molecules. Results depend on the odor, material and how the spray is used.
For the ingredient mechanism, see Evonik’s zinc ricinoleate odor-control overview.
Which bottle fits these everyday situations?
A welcoming entry
If the room simply needs a fragrance you enjoy, choose a scented spray. Start lightly, especially in a smaller space.
A gym bag
Empty it, follow its care label, and let it dry completely. If an odor remains, start with a light mist of the odor neutralizer on suitable material. Leave the bag open to dry.
A car or trunk
Remove trash and damp gear, clean as appropriate, and air it out. If an unwanted smell remains, consider the odor neutralizer. Add a scented spray later if you want fragrance.
A little care with fabric
For either bottle, check the care label, test a hidden spot and allow it to dry before misting a wider area. Use only on suitable materials and avoid soaking them. Our room and linen spray guide explains application in more detail.

Can you use an odor neutralizer and a scented spray together?
Yes. When you want to address an unwanted smell and then add a fragrance, use this order:
-
01Clean and air out.
Remove the source of the smell and allow cleaned materials to dry. -
02Address lingering odor.
Use the odor-neutralizing spray as directed. Allow treated fabrics or surfaces to dry. -
03Add fragrance if you want it.
Finish with a light mist of your chosen scented room spray.
You do not need both bottles every time. Choose the one that fits the job you have.
Common questions before you choose
Does the odor-neutralizing spray leave a perfume scent?
Our odor-neutralizing spray has no added fragrance. If you also want a named TGL fragrance in the room, choose a scented spray to use afterward.
Does either spray replace washing or cleaning?
No. Remove the source of the smell and clean as directed first. A spray is a finishing step for fragrance or remaining odor.
How can I try a fragrance before buying a full bottle?
A Scent Shot is a 3 ml mini room spray. Explore the available fragrances in our room spray and Scent Shot collection if you would like a smaller size first.
