How to Use Room and Linen Spray: A Little Goes a Long Way
To use room spray, start with one or two sprays into the air and give the fragrance a moment to settle. To use linen spray, check the fabric's care instructions, test a hidden spot and let it dry before applying a light mist more widely.
A favorite fragrance can become a small part of your day: a welcoming entry, freshly scented sheets or warm amber for an evening in. The GOOD LIFE's room and linen sprays come in 3.4 oz (100 ml) bottles designed for the air and suitable fabrics. Here is how to get started without using more than you need.
For the room
Begin with one or two sprays. Let the fragrance settle, then decide whether you want a little more.
For your linens
Check the care label, test a hidden spot and allow it to dry. Use a light mist on suitable fabric.
Room spray or linen spray: what is the difference?
The names describe where you use the fragrance. Room spray adds scent to the air. Linen spray is intended for suitable fabrics, such as sheets and towels. A room and linen spray, like ours, is made for both uses.
Check the directions on your particular bottle. A product made only for the air may have different instructions, and a fabric's care label still matters even when the spray is intended for linens.
How to use room spray
Start with the fragrance you want to enjoy. Citrus and herbs can give a room a brighter character; amber and woods offer a warmer direction. Your preference matters more than assigning a particular scent to a particular room.
- Spray lightly into the air. Begin with one or two sprays, directed away from faces and surfaces you do not want to mist.
- Give it a moment. Let the fragrance settle before adding more. Notice how the room smells, rather than repeatedly spraying the same spot.
- Adjust to your space. Room size, airflow and your preference affect how much fragrance feels right. Add another light spray only if you want it.
Follow the bottle's directions. Keep the spray away from lit candles, open flames and heat.
How to use linen spray on sheets and towels
Begin with clean, dry linens. Fragrance is a finishing touch after laundering, so there is no need to saturate the fabric.
- Read the care instructions. Check that the material is suitable for the product. Treat unfamiliar or delicate fabrics with extra care.
- Test a hidden area. Apply a small amount to an inconspicuous spot. Let it dry completely, then check for changes in color, texture or finish.
- Mist lightly. Our room and linen spray directions suggest holding the bottle about 8 to 12 inches from the fabric. Aim for an even, light mist rather than wet patches.
- Let it dry before use. Allow sheets or towels to dry before using, folding or putting them away.
When fabric application is unsuitable
Skip direct application on leather, delicate materials or anything whose care instructions do not allow it. If you choose to scent the room instead, direct the mist away from those materials.

Does room spray remove unwanted odors?
A scented room spray adds fragrance. Washing, cleaning, drying and addressing the source of an unwanted smell still come first. More fragrance does not replace those steps.
For lingering smells after cleaning, an odor-neutralizing product serves a different purpose. Our guide to scented sprays versus odor-neutralizing sprays explains which bottle fits your situation.
A few questions before you mist
How long does room spray last?
There is no single duration for every scent or space. Fragrance, airflow, room size and whether you mist the air or suitable fabric all affect the experience. Refresh lightly when you want more fragrance, following the bottle's directions.
Can I use linen spray on curtains or a couch?
Our room and linen sprays are intended for suitable curtains and upholstery as well as linens. Check the material's care instructions, test a hidden spot and let it dry before applying more widely. Skip direct application if the material or its care guidance is unsuitable.
Can I try a smaller bottle first?
Yes. Our 3 ml Scent Shots are mini room sprays, ready to mist into the air. Explore the available Scent Shots to try a fragrance at home before choosing a full-size spray.
“You can tell a lot of care goes into their products, and everything feels handmade and high quality.”
